How an AI Website Assistant Can Improve Your FAQs

Questions asked through a website assistant can reveal information that is missing, hard to find or difficult to understand.

The useful part is the question itself. An automated answer is not evidence that the underlying information is correct.

Treat conversation review as a content task with a named owner.

Look for recurring uncertainty

Review only information you are authorised to access and retain. Remove personal details from working notes. Group questions by the decision behind them: price, suitability, location, preparation or what happens next.

Several different phrases may point to the same gap. “Do you come to us?” and “Where does the appointment happen?” may both mean that the service page has not explained the visiting arrangement.

Check the original context before counting a pattern. A repeated question in one unsuccessful conversation is different from the same question asked by several visitors.

Fix the most useful page first

If an answer belongs in the service description, put it there. A separate FAQ is useful when people need a quick answer, but should not become a hiding place for essential information.

Write the answer from verified business information. For example, if appointments must be booked, explain the booking process and link to it. Avoid making promises about response times until the team has agreed them.

Check whether the change helped

Record the question, page changed and date. Test the page with someone unfamiliar with the service, then review later questions for the same uncertainty.

Fewer questions may indicate clearer content, but can also reflect lower traffic or changes in tool use. Combine the counts with what people are actually asking.

Update the assistant’s approved material when the website changes, and check that it now gives the same answer. Conflicting versions create more confusion than a missing FAQ.

Bring recurring questions into ordinary content reviews even if you stop using the assistant. Enquiry emails, sales calls and form messages can provide the same kind of insight. The goal is a website that answers customers more clearly wherever they choose to look.
