Values matter, as do you.

Scruffymonkey were very proud to sponsor the official book launch of Maura Jackson’s Finding Your Feathers book.

We saw the offer to sponsor this event some time ago, and it was a ‘no-brainer’. Why? Simple: it wasn’t some sort of PR opportunity; it was out of respect and admiration for Maura and all she has accomplished.

I’ve titled this blog ‘Values matter’. Why? Because this is probably what we admire most about Maura and her achievements: the fact that she has stuck to who she is and kept to her values no matter what, and that sadly can be quite rare in business. She’s won loads of awards, etc. That’s all good, etc., but it’s looking past that and the individual that motivates and inspires us. 

Maura is probably in my ‘Top 5’ people I look up to and want to follow, not just as a business owner but as an individual, someone who knows who they are and believes in doing it their way. She reminds me of what’s possible by sticking to what we believe in and doing the right thing no matter what.

Organisations could learn so much from Maura, not just the boring, necessary skills required but about having that extra spark and edge to go the distance and find their inner belief that they can do it and do it on their terms. There are loads of ‘vanilla’ organisations out there following someone else’s rule book — good luck with that!

Well done to Maura, and it’s a thank you for the reminder that we can do it and can do it our way, just like we have been for over a decade!
