Solution
Scruffymonkey were invited to provide a complete review of the Galloways website taking on board a comprehensive brief. This included ensuring that the website was compliant for vision impairment and had the appropriate tools within it to make the content more accessible. This included the creation of a panel to select the correct accessibility for the viewer. This included:
* Seizure Safe Profile – clears flashes and reduces colour
* Vision Impaired Profile – enhances the website’s visuals
* ADHD Friendly Profile – more focus and fewer distractions
* Cognitive Disability Profile – assists with reading and focusing
* Keyboard Navigation – use the website with the keyboard
* Blind Users Profile – optimises website for screen-readers
The site also included functionality for content adjustments, such as for sizing, colour adjustments, and orientation adjustments, such as a reading guide, ability to hide images and mute sound, stop animations, have enlarged cursor in black or white.
A key element of the site was to include a Digital Hub – an information hub dedicated to providing valuable learning opportunities for individuals affected by sight loss, such as cataracts, Charles Bonnet Syndrome, Myopia and much more.
To aid fundraising, a donations page was created with an immediate ‘Donate Now’ form, making it simple for donors to contribute. In addition, an online shop was created where items such as Christmas Cards could be purchased, or collection tubs and information requested for free.
One of the biggest benefits for Galloways, on top of their event calendar and self-referral form, was the ‘peace of mind’ that came from having a support contract in place with Scruffymonkey, which included managing tech updates, and ensures they receive the best advice for how best to keep the website current and accessible.
